MANURE MANAGEMENT

A Tour of Manure
  • Manure is a natural fertilizer associated with animal agriculture.
  • It has been used as fertilizer for crops for hundreds of years.

Positives of Poop
  • Manure contains many nutrients vital to plant growth such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sulfur, and calcium.
  • Using manure reduces the amount of commercial fertilizer needed to be purchased and applied.
  • Manure is sampled and tested for nutrient content, then we apply the appropriate volume of manure to meet the nutrient needs of the crop to be grown in each field.
  • Adds organic matter to the soil, improving soil health.
  • Manure is a natural “organic” way to fertilize crops.

We Go The Extra Mile
  • Modern farms store and handle manure as a liquid instead of semi-solid.
  • Longer storage creates more odor. Rosy-Lane does our best minimize this odor.
  • Our manure is hauled through hoses and injected right into the soil.
  • We incorporate the manure by plowing it in.
  • We clean roads with a skid loader as best we can.
  • We have a Nutrient Management Plan.  We keep records of which fields have had manure applied, when it was applied and how much was applied to ensure accountability.  By this July, we know what will be on each acre for the following crop year.
  • We sample the soil to ensure we are not over applying manure.
